Rachel MacManus spent 17 years as a journalist and programme-maker at the BBC. She brings her extensive experience, creativity, and professionalism to her role at Green Lady Media.
She's passionate about storytelling through the medium of film, and sharing the knowledge she's gained over a 20 year media career.
As a journalist, her work was first published in Wales' national newspaper, The Western Mail, aged 15. She also wrote for the South Wales Argus, South Wales Evening Post and Waterfront student newspaper while studying English Literature at Swansea University. She spent time at Red Dragon Radio in Cardiff and entered the newsroom at BBC Wales in 2000, moving into programme-making during her time at BBC Birmingham.
Throughout her broadcast career, Rachel built a reputation as an investigative journalist and creative film-maker, working across factual and natural history productions, producing and directing television programmes, in studio and on location, developing ideas and web content, and edit producing observational documentaries.
"Green Lady Media has been working on a project with us for a few weeks and will continue to do over the coming months. Rachel is very professional in her work and is approachable, inclusive of all. She has a great personality and is very understanding and patient when working with young people with sensory loss, complex needs and learning disabilities."

During the filming process Rachel made our whole team feel at ease and delivered a portfolio of films and photos we are delighted with. The feedback from our clients has been very positive. We look forward to working with her again.”

"Within 24 hours of the event, Green Lady Media had put together an inspiring, heart-warming film that really captured the spirit of the day. Our whole team couldn't stop smiling for the entire 5 minutes, and the response from our community has been fantastic too."

"Green Lady Media has managed the publicity and social media campaign for our fundraising efforts to build a sensory den for children with additional learning needs at Machen Primary School. Thanks to Rachel’s knowledge of the media industry we gained coverage in national newspapers and on BBC radio. Her support and understanding of our requirements have been crucial in accessing additional support to complete the project over and above what we imagined. The films she produced have highlighted our work and autism awareness in general."

"Rachel put some video together to help us promote 'Between The Trees’, which is a not-for-profit music festival based in South Wales. She worked quickly and efficiently, almost invisibly, around a group of us as we chatted, pointed, discussed options for this-and-that and generally wandered around woodland adjacent to the festival site. The outcome was amazing, just what we were hoping to achieve, a number of wonderfully gentle video clips that really embraced the philosophy and ethos behind what we were trying to do with BtT. Loads of great comments, all the right sort too! Can’t wait to work with her again."
